Selling a Loved One's Home is Often More

Difficult Than Families Expect

Practical guidance and real stories for families navigating the emotional and practical challenges of selling a home after the loss of a loved one.  Many families believe selling a home after a death will simply involved  cleaning out the property, hiring a real estate agent, and putting the home on the market.

But in reality, these sales often involved grief, family dynamics, financial stress, deferred maintenance, legal authority questions, difficult decisions, and emotional overwhelm, all happening at the same time.

Sometimes one family member is carrying most of the responsibility while trying to balance work, caregiving, loss, or conflict between siblings and beneficiaries.

The emotional weight of these decisions often catches families by surprise.

Why I Wrote This Book

After years of helping San Diego County families navigate inherited home sales, probate situations, downsizing transitions, divorce-related sales and major life changes, I began to notice patterns that repeatedly showed how these sales unfolded.

I saw families struggle with:

  • deciding what repairs truly matter,

  • disagreements between family members,

  • homes with years of deferred maintenance,

  • uncertainty about pricing and preparation,

  • legal delays

  • emotional attachment to belongings,

  • and the pressure of making major financial decision during grief.

I wrote this book to help families better understand what they may encounter before the process becomes overwhelming.

What You will Learn Inside this Book

You Will Discover:

This Book Combines Emotional Insight with Practical Guidance

This is not simply a book about selling real estate.

It is a book about people navigating one of life's most emotionally difficult transitions while also trying to make practical, financial and family decisions.

My goal is to help families feel more prepared, less overwhelmed, and better supported throughout the process.
